Like another reviewer, I purchased Marva Maid 1% Lowfat Ultra Pasteurized Milk (blue carton) last week (in early March), but my carton came from the Norfolk Naval Base Commissary. It contained white long strands as well as small white chunks of "I haven't a clue". These "things" poured out along with the regular-looking milk. The more I shook the carton of milk, the more they seemed to form and come out. I know my kid accidentally ate one the other day after I had just opened the carton and poured her a glass of "milk" to drink. The chunk grossed her out more than it tasted horrible or it made her sick, but what the heck was it? I pulled out a very long one, which was about a 1/4-inch plus wide and probably five inches long. I could not get it to dissolve completely and was able to pull it apart. It seemed like some sort of thick milky paper, but again, I don't really know. All in all, very weird for "milk" to contain this.

Milk going bad

My family has bought milk from them forever, but for about the past month we've noticed that our milk is going bad almost immediately after opening but before the sell by date. This is highly unusual because a gallon of milk usually lasts in our house only 2 days before being finished. When the first gallon went bad, we thought it was a fluke and realized that it had an earlier (but not expired) sell by date than our other gallons. When the second and third ones went bad, we thought it was our fridge or that we didn't get the milk to the fridge fast enough after purchase. When the fourth one went bad, it was from a separate purchase and therefore not the same batch. At this point we knew it was the milk and not us. When the fifth one went bad, we were pissed. Additionally, my grandma buys half gallons from the same company and has noticed the same thing.

Re: Maola by Marva Maid Had a 1/2 gal jug of milk & it leaked at the top. I *** it was just me & the way I was pouring it but the next time my husband bought the same, it leaked, too, even worse. So, while trying to transfer it to another container, I had to get a LARGE bowl to sit my container in because as I poured the milk into my container, it was dripping like crazy. Upon close inspection, I found a tiny pin hole right were the decimal point is between (1.89 L). The milk was fine but my husband says that's a manufacturing flaw. I surely hope you get with them because the only milk I will buy here in Virginia is Marva Maid, altho, I have had a couple jugs be bad when we puchased them. I'm from Alabama & we got our milk from Barber's Dairy. When I moved up to Virginia 15 years ago, I had a hard time adjusting to milk that tasted different. After I found Marva Maid, we've never changed & don't want to either. Thanks for your time in reading this. Have a great day!

I purchased this 1% Marva Maid ultra pasteurized milk last night from a supermarket in Bowie, MD (Giant). When I opened it this morning to pour it on my cereal, these chunks came out. They look like butter or mozzarella cheese. They don't melt at room temperature and they taste kind of like butter or cream. How does this happen with 1% milk? Even the liquid part of the milk is more of a whole milk or heavy cream consistency. What's happening here?! My breakfast was ruined..

Purchased a gallon of whole milk from my local convenience store. The expiration date was August 15 and I purchased it on August 8. It did not smell fresh when I opened it and once I poured it out, it's not worse. The store would not take back my gallon of milk since I opened it, nor would they give me my money back for it.

I have been buying Marva Maid for about 6 or 7 months and have had no problems whatsoever. I prefer the milk to the other brands because of the expiration date. People with problems must be doing something wrong. My sister goes through 1 1/2 gallons a week and has had no problems either. I hope the quality withstands for a long time to come. I've noticed that most of the reviews are from years ago so maybe I have a ways to go before I should make a comment. Great milk and I will continue to buy.

Today ( Feb 13, 2016) I opened a 1/2 gallon of 2% MM milk with a Best Buy date of March 31, 2016 to use on cereal. The milk had a terrible taste so after 2 spoonfulls I discarded the remainig cereal. I called MM in Maryland and explained what I experienced to a a man who said he was a Supervisor. He told me that the bad taste was probably due to the milk being Ultra Pasterized i.e. boiled twice and to take it back to the store where I bought it for a refund. I don't consider his response a prudent answer to my concern about the taste issue and MM has lost a customer.

I had similar problem with Marva Maid fat free skim ultra-pasteurized. Expiration date of June 01, but it tasted quite bitter by May 11.

Ugh, I will not buy again. Buyer Beware...

When u drink mm milk it makes your stomach cramp up. Sometimes the milk stinks like it's been sitting out too long all the truck drivers act like they don't care to deliver the milk right away because they say the company is not paying them right then the company let go of a lot of truck drivers because of the lack of business I really hope things get better but from the things that's being said who knows what the outcome will be. We will see. One truck driver said the business suppose to be picking up but now thing are getting crazy around the place. I really hope they treat the truck drivers better in the future and they acknowledge them because they deserve it.

its because they don't clean the machines properly and they don't rinse the sanitizer out real good dirty place if you ask me and people don't wear gloves yukkk...

Poorly managed company. does not care about their employees or customers

no quality control, product not properly rotated, product carried on trucks improperly refrigerated. adding more and more stops to drivers, no extra pay. Does not care about employees or customers needs. only concerned with profits any way they can get them. Sold ice cream division and let all employees go with no warning, no severance pay, no unemployment benefits, no job transfer. shutting down depots and shifting work to other divisions which hurts customer service. would not recommend anyone to apply for work at this company. very poorly managed company with no desire to improve, quality of product is sub-par.

you are right the company doesn't care about their employees all they care about is their self and the plant manager is prejudice she doesn't like black people or any other race she walks around with an attitude and all she worries about is her boyfriend all the do is argue in the hallway all the time that's a conflict of interest. someone needs to moniter her because she doesn't know how to run the company properly she needs to be replaced with someone who cares about the company obviously she don't all she does is go outside and smoke cigs all day with her best friend in the lab ms dykes.
